Move to Billing On A UB-04 Delayed

Issue: #409 Jul2019

Topic: Reimbursement

The effective date for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) billing the facility-related services rendered to our members on a UB-04 has been delayed. The last communication indicated that the switch from the CMS 1500 to the UB-04 would be effective on July 1, 2019.

The delay is the result of additional programming that needs to be completed to address the impacts that this billing change may have on how member benefits are applied.

No target date for the completion of this programming has been determined. However, we believe that this will not be completed prior to October 1, 2019. Until further notice, ASCs should continue to bill for their services on the CMS 1500. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have on your organization and appreciate your patience.
